Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant, syndicated columnist, TV personality, author and author. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after she left the business. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. She has participated in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 purchase to pay for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a household worker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced between jobs throughout Corcoran's early years. The family relied on food deliveries from a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran recalls her father as a man who sometimes drank too much and was rude to her mother and condescension, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was struggling in school, and she later found out she was dyslexic. She went to a local Catholic elementary school, and then began high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing many classes during her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
